Transforming the Lives of NYC Kids

The NYC RBC Race for the Kids is where it all started. In 2015, the very first RFTK was launched and ten years later, the program has now gone global, with over 18 different races annually.

The New York race is unique in that it supports not just one, but several charity partners in the New York area. This year, The New York RFTK is represented by four charity partners, Youth INC, MSK Kids, Ronald McDonald House - New York and Literacy INC, all who have an objective of improving the lives of NYC kids.

Join us on October 17 & 18 as we come together as a community in support of the youth of New York City!

Advancing pediatric cancer care worldwide

Specializing in kids. Specializing in cancer. Within Memorial Sloan Kettering, we’re a multidisciplinary center of excellence for treating kids and young adults with cancer, as well as immune deficiencies and benign blood disorders. Did you know our doctors and staff care for more pediatric patients with different types of cancer than any other center in the United States? We see more rare cancers in a single day than most physicians see in a lifetime. With this deep focus entirely on kids and cancer, our staff can give each patient the most accurate diagnosis and the best possible care.

Pioneering new treatments for all. Every member of our clinical team contributes to groundbreaking research that opens up more treatment options and sets new standards of care at MSK Kids and beyond. Our teams have developed treatments where there previously were none. Alongside other leading institutions, we are pursuing the next frontier of therapies and approaches to support people facing pediatric cancer around the world.

About Literacy Inc.

Register

Literacy Inc. (LINC) works at the intersection of education and community development to address the literacy crisis facing NYC. Early literacy is essential to the wellbeing of children and to the equitable development of our city. Yet, children living in poverty, who are disproportionately children of color, face far greater challenges in acquiring literacy, far less educational opportunity, far less support, and a far steeper climb to success. Just 46% of NYC public school children, living below the poverty line, read at grade level when tested as 3rd graders.

LINC's mission is to engage families and community members to support young readers in high-need neighborhoods. We empower parents and foster a culture of reading at the neighborhood level. Investing in early literacy yields long-term social, health, and economic benefits for children later in life, and makes our city stronger for all.

About Us

Literacy Inc. (LINC) works at the intersection of education and community development to address the literacy crisis facing New York City. Early literacy is essential to the wellbeing of children and to the equitable development of our city. Our children’s educational success is the path out of poverty and the key to achievement. Yet, children living in poverty, face far greater challenges in acquiring literacy, far less educational opportunity, far less support, and a far steeper climb to success. Just 46% of NYC public school children, living below the poverty line, read at grade level when tested as third graders.

LINC’s mission is to engage families and community members to support young readers in high-need neighborhoods. LINC harnesses the power that exists in every community to make literacy a value and right of all children. We empower parents and foster a culture of reading at the neighborhood level. Investing in early literacy yields long-term social, health, and economic benefits for children later in life, and makes our city stronger for all. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, LINC swiftly adapted our Early Childhood Programming into daily virtual programming to be accessed via multiple interactive online platforms. LINC is addressing how we can continue to reach families in our communities-- those most affected by the COVID-19 crisis and disproportionately communities of color-- during this critical window in brain development and ensure our digital programs mirror the effectiveness of our in-person, grassroots and community-based support for our families.
