RBC Race for the Kids, UK, 17-18 October 2020
Supporting Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity

A better future for seriously ill children starts here

Every day, more than 600 seriously ill children and young people from across the UK arrive at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). Every day, doctors and nurses battle the most complex illnesses and conditions, and the brightest minds come together to achieve pioneering medical breakthroughs. With many of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity’s (GOSH Charity) major fundraising events cancelled due to COVID-19, any support you can give means you’ll be making a huge difference to seriously ill children and their families at the hospital. This extraordinary hospital has always depended on charitable support to give seriously ill children the best chance to fulfil their potential. Read more about the amazing work of GOSH here.

LAST YEAR’S RACE

The event may not be taking place at London’s Hyde Park this year but, instead, go wild with imagination and create your own thrilling fun run day!

Link your fundraising page to Strava, Fitbit or mapmyrun to record any training you do prior to the event.

We’ll then send you access to our Festival Hub with exciting resources and exclusive content from a few of GOSH Charity’s famous friends that will turn your virtual RBC Race for the Kids into a day to remember! We’re talking about exclusive warm-ups, activity tutorials and entertainment.

RBC Global Virtual Race for the Kids, supporting youth
charities around the world

Over the past decade, the RBC Race for the Kids series has grown to include 17 charitable events raising more than $57 million for our local charity partners. This year, the COVID-19 pandemic means most of our physical Races can’t happen so welcome to the first ever RBC Global Virtual Race for the Kids. Our ambition is to create the world’s biggest, virtual family fun run in support of over 30 youth charities to help them continue their incredible work at this challenging time.

Meet Mela

Mela, aged 10, was born with Apert syndrome, a rare craniofacial condition. When she was still developing in the womb, many of the bones in her hands, feet and skull fused together prematurely. It affects her in a lot of different ways, including her eating, hearing, breathing, walking and speech. Mela has been coming to GOSH since she was a baby and has had over 20 surgeries throughout her life. Mela and her family have been taking part in RBC Race for the Kids every year. Mela’s mum, Paula says: “RBC Race for the Kids is so special to us. With Mela under the care of so many specialists at GOSH, we want to do what we can to give back to the hospital.”
