Investing in the future of our kids

Stichting Casa Cuna Progreso is a non-profit organization, founded as a children’s home since 4th of April 1957. Stichting Casa Cuna Progreso is a 7x24 hour facility for children from 0 to 6 (8) years who are (temporarily) no longer able to live at home. Casa Cuna assists by temporarily taking over the tasks of caring for their children with the hope they ultimately return home.

Cas Diet Booi Project

Casa Cuna started October 14, 2019 with a house for teenage mothers for pregnant girls and young mothers, 'Cas Diet Booi'. Young parenting is not a problem in itself. It becomes a problem when the young family faces many risks and problems that are not offset by protective factors. In order to avoid separation of mother and child, Casa Cuna started the teenage mother house to offers, in cooperation with its chain partners, four (4) living places for temporary shelter and guidance of teenage mothers with their child or children.

Casa Cuna makes it possible for the young mothers to stay until their situation at home is safe or we find foster parents for their child. During their stay at Casa Cuna the teenage mothers learn different skills for example gardening so they can live off the produce, eat healthy & perhaps sell to make money. Casa Cuna provides them the possibility to live for a max of 1.5 to 2 years at the foundation.

Stichting Casa Cuna Progreso plays a vital role in the Aruban Community, as the only residential organization for young kids, between the age of 0 to 8 years old, on the island.

The organization provides a safe home environment for these kids as they grow up.

Our Goals

1. To improve the quality of children's care, according to the most recent scientific insights on attachment and trauma. By providing high-quality care, we want to offer the children more development opportunities and help reduce or prevent future health and psychological problems.

2. To intensively involve the parents/guardians in the supervision and treatment of the children at Casa Cuna. Parents are very important in the counseling and treatment of young children, including when children have been removed from home. Guiding parents and improving bonding with their children increases the children's chances of healthy development.

3. To offer young mothers intensive individual guidance in different areas of life, enabling them to build up sufficient independence. In addition, the promotion of their parenting skills so that they can take care of and educate their child (ren), so that they can maintain themselves within society.
